CLEVELAND, OH—(September 1, 2009)—September is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month and the addiction specialists at Rosary Hall at St. Vincent Charity Hospital will be holding seminars to help educate those who may have a loved one who is trapped within the cycle of addiction.
This year’s theme, “Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Learn, Together We Heal,” emphasizes the need to use all available resources to help educate people about the disease and to help those affected by substance abuse to get support.

Canton, Ohio: Mercy Medical Center recently earned the ENERGY STAR designation--the national mark of excellence in energy performance--from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy's joint program. Mercy is one of the only two hospitals in Ohio and 87 nationwide to be awarded this distinction.
With an overall rating of 85 on an energy efficiency scale of zero to 100, the hospital is one of eight ENERGY STAR buildings in Canton. To obtain ENERGY STAR, facilities must pass a rigorous application and an on-site review.

"Black Health Empowerment Project: Eat, Move and Test for Health" organized by United States Representative Marcia Fudge, will be held Saturday, August 22 at John Hay High School in Cleveland, Ohio. This event is free and open to the public with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. and concluding at 3:30 p.m. In addition to free breakfast and lunch, the event will provide health and wellness sessions for women, men and seniors; free health screenings and exhibitors; fitness and cooking demonstrations; fun workshops for kids, and more. St. Vincent Charity Hospital, Sisters of Charity Health System and the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland are among the sponsors.

Celebration of Wellness is a daylong adventure in interactive learning & fun designed to assist Central neighborhood families in gaining necessary tools for healthy living. The health fair activities focus primarily on cancer detection and prevention. Events include a one-mile walk run, outdoor family games, and healthy snacks. Volunteers come from the surrounding neighborhood, St. Vincent Charity Hospital, and The Sisters of Charity Health System.
The event is sponsored by Arbor Park Village, City of Cleveland Division of Water, Cleveland State University College of Urban Affairs, Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland, St. Vincent Charity Hospital, Sisters of Charity Health System, and Tri C Metro Campus.
